The Divine Gift Poem by Aminath Neena

The Divine Gift

Sweet, sweet

Hershey’s kisses

Whispers in the night

Awakens a flame

The candle is lit

And the satin is spread

The rhapsody mellows

In flimsy notes

Soft, soft

pillows

Of pink strawberries

Jelly and marshmallows

No one to blame

No bamboozles

Or snotty foozles

heffalumps or woozles

To steal our moment

Gush, gush

Water gushes

Crystal clear

My heart’s desire

No slimy creatures

Just reality breaches

As creamy fudge

Through the windows

Jump, jump

Into the fire

Let the flame

Do its dance

No pretension

Or hesitation

Not even

A wicked charlatan

But the reward awaits

A divine gift

For you and me

Gloss, gloss

Shiny lips

Radiant dips

Dewy sips

Seals a lifetime

Of sheer waiting

Anticipating

Hallucinating

Breath, breath

It is over now

The road is paved

The mud is cleared

Even the lawn is mowed

And we did it together

In a matter of seconds

Love, love

Is our strength

You and me

So, this night

let us celebrate

Rejuvenate

And recreate

The spring

Ring, ring

With this ring

We plant

A harvest of blooms

And a tiara

Of pink roses

Accompanies the veil

Never mind what they say

Or the donkey’s bray

Yes, yes

I love you
