The Devils Lair Poem by Frank Acquafredda

The Devils Lair

Rating: 3.5

The devil's lair
My life we share,
The serpents nest
Within my chest,
Can't break free
His Hold On Me,
His grip so tight
As teeth they bite
Pumping poison
I just can't fight.

His constant talk
Drives me insane,
My legs they drag
This ball and chain,
My imprisoned heart
Wrapped with barb wire,
My body burning
Like it's on fire.

His horns they poke,
Hands they choke,
His presence, my life
Have been no joke,
Dead man walking
Haunted dreams,
Consumed forever
Or so it seems.
Unforgiven past
Was lived so fast
Wonder which day
Will be my last.
