The Devil Is In The Detail Poem by Sandra Feldman

The Devil Is In The Detail

The Devil is dancing,
And singing his tune,
Announcing the Shamedom,
Of weirdoes and loons,
Red is his color,
The color of blood,
Expect nothing good,
From this cowardly flood.

No standards are upheld,
No values remain,
'Destruction of morals'
Is the name of the game.

The 21st century,
I'm ashamed to be part,
Of a social revolution,
That has lost all its heart.

I'm ashamed to be living,
In a social, dark swamp,
Where 'Anything Goes',
And all 'leaders' are TRAMPS!

Awesome! I too feel the mire of the anti-social network. At least, your poem speaks to me in that way. Thanks.

This is a fine poem to begin the month of July which is the halfway point of the year 2015. Whatever we want to accomplish, the time is slipping away. And there's an urgency in this poem. You evoke a very real devil in the first stanza, of the malign Miltonic kind, not in any way heroic like his but filled with the venom of a creature of PARADISE LOST. But not forever - hopefully - you are a free soul summoning other free souls to assert themselves! I'll step forward I see myself as a Faust who has not sold his soul, has not made a pact with Mephistophiles, who has not abused Gretchen. I believe in Goethe's notion of THE FALL UPWARD (sic) .

the life governing liquid turns to be a symbol for a devil when it leaves its place of comfort to be displayed..wonderful awareness..
