The Deepest Well

No more, no more will I try
to hold back the past
Time and darkness arrive
this downward cast
Implosion uneder the mask
I feel it
come at last
Here it is
(The final blast)

I was brought up with the iron ore
I was taught to smoke like a man
So you can censor my report
and chain up my winning hands

Let me tell you somethin' mister
You ain't seen blues
like these
I assure you mister
would go down
on it's fucking knees

My blues ain't got resolutiob
They got medication
I can take
But I know there's no pill
no mantra
that can be used in my case

I entered into Babylon
and served her by night
so where do I belong
in a place of lasting light?
I saw heroes raise their martyrs up
I saw sorrows come out from the wild
I heard dark prayers of love
create a man and kill a child

It's the fool's folly to be wise
Oh, you governments and your lies
Bloody scenes of freedom on my T.V screen
and hopefuls, chasing their dream

Let me show you somethin' mister
You ain't seen blues
like these
I assure you mister
would go down
on it's knees

My blues ain't got restitution
There's no intuition
I can trust
And I know there's no pill
no mantra
that can stop the world being rushed
Out of existence
Into a crisis sun
But when it's forgiveness
when there's reason
You can fight fate
but you'll fight alone
and when your number's called
You'll face it on your own

God showed me a vision
The universe spread out
The Body as a prison
and a key inside my mouth
Your world resents and probably hates me
the rain descends to feed your fires
this is how it has to be
to fulfill our heart's desires

We're corrupted but still breathing
Forever in the process of leaving
Take It Back! !
Don't let them win!

And we're rolling
rolling into a storm
They're controlling
controlling every thought
And I'm holding
I'm still holding on
In the hope that I am wrong

Ain't got solace now
I'm never Really rested
Lay down and try to sleep
You can always erase your past
No more
No more will I try
Cos there's no point anyway
I love you, babe.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

Written in two sittings, I think it's about living with evils, but not comfortably.

Poem of the Day

poet Katharine Lee Bates

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
