The Days of Summer

Have you ever watched the stars
On a cool clear evening
Have you ever watched the sunrise
To a perfect day
Have you ever danced in the rain
With your best friend
Have you ever ticked to the time
And thought of a rhyme
Passing the days of summer
With a smile

Life's too short
And winter's too long
But summer's almost gone
So sing with me
Cause you say I'm all you can hear
Passing the days of summer
With a smile

The things I do
Just to prove to you
What I believe
And you know you ought to
A teddy bear if I really care
What you said yesterday
Important then
I've forgotten now
Passing the days of summer
With a smile

Wake up
I'm ready now
Let's jump
Let's fall
Just you promise
And dust me off
Or I'm not sure I can
Pass the day's of summer
With a smile

It's the end of our journey
The story
The road
Here we stop
Here we rest
Here we sleep
You took me there
I'll take you back
And pass the days of summer
With a smile

Life's much to short
For idle talk
Winter's too long
For just one book
Summer's almost gone
I have to go
I'll say good bye
But just one more song
So sing with me
I want to be the only one you can hear
We'll pass the days of summer
With a smile

poet Walt Whitman

ARM’D year! year of the struggle!
No dainty rhymes or sentimental love verses for you, terrible year!
Not you as some pale poetling, seated at a desk, lisping cadenzas
