The Day You Left Poem by Tammy Arthur

The Day You Left

The day you left all I could do was cry as you walked away.
I felt so numb inside because it came as such a shock.
I thought everything was fine little did I know that you had given your heart to someone else.
The smile you wore was because of her your new love.
This woman who had come along and wrecked our happy home!
She stood there smiling while I felt like dying and you couldn’t see the real her.
She could do no wrong she was perfect in your eyes.
Why couldn’t I be happy for you why didn’t I just get over you, you yelled.
She stood there taking everything you had never giving back in return.
Until one day you woke up and your life was dark nothing seemed right anymore.
You called me begging me to take you back you made a mistake you said.
Why wouldn’t I give you another chance you said I'm not being fair.
Today you sat there crying as I walked away.
Today I was the one smiling, as I no longer needed you.
Today I told you good-bye.
Today I told you, you would get over me in time.
I know because I got over you.
