The Darkness Poem by Cory Tipton

The Darkness

Rating: 5.0

Something follows
Something's there in the shadows
The area around so still
So impossibly calm
It's as if nothing's there
But you know as well as I
It's there
Watching and yet so quiet and still

Walking home alone
Nothing's alive outside
As if no one lives within thousands of miles
You feel someone, something watching
You call for help, no one comes
No one cares

It's closer
But yet so far
All around you
No place to hide
You want to run
But too scared to take a step
Now in front of you
And swallows you in black
Never seen again
Because the darkness has you
