The Dangers Of Seclusion Poem by Nika McGuin

The Dangers Of Seclusion

Rating: 2.8

Being alone
for long enough
can have serious effects
on the state of your soul

loneliness causes the soul to wither
and slowly lose chunks of it's humanity
daily interactions become foreign territory
solitude becomes less of a choice,
and more of a habitual dependency

a soul in isolation runs the risk
of going mad, positively insane
as one forgets what's normal
and what is not normal
left alone with a mountain of faults,
a colony of insecurities nibbling
upon the residual shreds of self-confidence

God said, man was not meant to be alone
and whether you believe in God or not
it is still every bit as true

Being isolated some times is the only way to survive though there is nothing normal about it. The greatest thinkers have all different minds but agree on the harmful effects yet in America albeit through their jails, mental hospitals and prisons they take human beings and in some instants hide them aware for years knowing full well the ramifications of their actions then expect things from these people whom no longer are that they made.....iip
