The Dancers Change Poem by Olivia Wright

The Dancers Change

Standing on stage
With the lights down low
I wait to break free from my enclosed cage.
I feel my emotions welling up from below.

Coming to the surface is sorrow and rage
My emotions begin to overflow
My music plays, I have no choice now, i have to engage
My feet begin to move while in side I feel myself start to grow
I told myself I wouldn't become vulnerable on stage
But I can not halt the change that I am about to undergo
So here I stand eating crow
Wishing not to have burdens to bestow
I am dancing on stage with this change i wish i could forgo.
