The Cycle Poem by Rosetta Dove

The Cycle

I put the blade to the my skin
Oh, how I missed the sight.

You silently keep your screams in.

Plastic smile glued to your face. Lies hide the truth from your eyes.

You live everyday on a thread.

Memories haunt your dreams, pain fills your head.

You don’t know what reality is.

Pills heading towards your brain. Alcohol down your system.

You say this helps.

She silently holds back tears, sitting there praying to see you soon.

You see her okay with it.

Night before forgotten, mistakes covered up by another.

You live everyday the same.

The blade is brought up, her heart falls in two.

You can’t see the truth.

Alcohol fills your mouth, pills finally reached the end.

You’re to blind.
I bring the blade to my skin, tears drown out the screams.

You’re to gone to realize anything.

Two hearts with in another, two souls hidden away.

You don’t realize the cycle.
