The Cross (In Answer To Allan Kirkland Soga) Poem by Gert Strydom

The Cross (In Answer To Allan Kirkland Soga)

Far too long has it beaconed silently,
on the rocky shore of Algoa bay
etched on land against the sea,
against the thunderous breaking roar
of waves crashing forever more

telling of brave merchant men trusting in God
send by a Christian king
to overcome unknown seas, the flood,
like Noah's band, under Diaz left a marker everlasting
with prosperity unfurled,
bringing God's love to this dark world.
