The Comparisons Poem by Bobbie Othigo

The Comparisons

Like many cut green grass blades,
And thousands of leaves plucked from trees,
That are made to one line,
And they stretch beyond your eyes,
The infinite length is my love for you.

Like all those darling stars,
That mingle so and love to dance,
Pull, and then put them to a single line,
Twist it to a spiral and put the
Moon in the middle,
The light, that’s my love for you.

Take the snow flakes,
Gather the raindrops,
When these you collect,
Before they kiss the earth below,
The whiteness, and purity, is my love for you.

When you count every grain,
Scattered about the seas’ sandy shores,
And you mark each pearl and shell
That beautifully litter her soft floor,
The vast amount, that’s my love for you.

Like many seconds accumulated,
Since these you will never gather all,
Cause, time can never be caught,
Oh, I’m more than elated,
The eternity, that’s my love for you
