The Cocoon Poem by Ruth L. Rivers

The Cocoon

The Cocoon: Society and the Butterfly.

It closes in and yet
i push
It forces me into
separation
Yet I push

It makes walls and yet
i strive
It allows me again
to re-re-think
Yet I strive

It holds me back yet
i force
It questions all
my before thought
Yet I force

It refuses light yet
i yearn
It darkens eyes to
all new knowledge
Yet I yearn

It repeats closure yet
i try
It feeds on old
making none new
Yet I try

It demands less and yet
i want
It lives to repeat
to deaden me
Yet I want

It is not my end but
the start
It will free my mind!
giving freedom
Butterfly.
