The Closed Door Poem by Gadarowski Michael

The Closed Door

The gates to earth are closing,
To many every day
Unwanted, unloved millions
We’re turning them away.

How can we seem so cheery,
When all around is grey?
How can we take so lightly
The lives we’ve killed today?

Plastic baggies in the corner
Hold their ranks in disarray,
A bloody Ebeneezer
To the wisdom of our day.

It’s the year of the child,
Or so the people say,
A salve, a balm, an ointment
To take the guilt away.
