The Chimney Poem by Fadhil Al Azzawi

The Chimney

Rating: 3.5

A chimney blows smoke in the wind
Sometimes it blows dreams
Sometimes it blows sadness
Or blows the remains of some men in a room
Telling stories from the past.
The chimney blows a woman's silence
As she rest in the arms of a man remembering a city in terror
Hunched in the desert
Blowing its memories away.
A chimney blows us day by day
In the night of another sky
Away into the wind.
