The Chalk

The chalk seemed to work,
Better than the pen today.
It's straight lines and letters,
Across the chalkboard lay.

It explained to the kids,
Their lessons to be learned.
It talked about their actions,
Unfurled.

This chalk slid across,
The board today and the students,
Looked at it where their education lay.

Chalk may be the first medium used by children to learn to express themselves.
They draw with it on paper and on sidewalks and organize using it for games on sidewalks.
At least long ago once upon a time. (Report) Reply

Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
