The Carnival That Cars Poem by Tosin Abegunde

The Carnival That Cars

Ding dong
Merrily on high
Hustle
Bustle
Sacrificial lambs
Gaze in horror
Credits and the creditors
Yuletide it is.

By and by
A new song to sing
When debtors beg
Creditors consider
Bargains of time
Carnival it is
Then
And now
It cars away
Flap or expiry date
Creditos taps
The rusty doors
Debtors shievers
Incendiary bombs thrown
Police makes peace
In the save haven
What a carnival
That fades away with time.
