The Candlestick Poem by Roxanne Dubarry

The Candlestick

O trials and tribulations may
Constantly assail us! Yet as
Saints of the Lord, we have a
Brillant Ray of Hope, who will
Never fail us! He will prevail
Over sin by being triumphant
Over Satan's power. For Christ,
Our Defender protects us every hour.

O as saints of the Lord, we need
Not be afraid! For each winter turns
Into spring, and each
Night turns into day
Because we trust in Jesus Christ
Our Lord, we will be saved!
For Christ, our shining Candlestick,
Is truly victorious over
Death and the grave!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Many people consider, 'The Candlestick, ' one of the best poems I have ever composed. The deceased mother Thersa's famous quotation was for many years one of my main sources of inspiration, 'It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.'

Also the Bible mentions do not hide your light under a bushel. Let your light shine so that others may see it. There are several other references as well.

The late 1980's was a turbulent time not only for me, but my entire remaining family as well. I really used poetry to help others, and myself cope with problems. And who better to turn to in times of trouble than Jesus Christ!
