The Candle Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

The Candle

Life is like a burning candle
The longer it burns the lesser of it remains
Until we are snuffed out
Into the dark oblivion.

So our movement forward
Is also a backward retreat,
And all our accumulated gains
Shall sum up our loss -
Isn't life, for sure, my friend
A bitter-sweet paradox? !

Rajendran Ji, only God knows. However, it may not be so.

Liked this poem - particularly the final poser. Well, our worry has validity only if we take life as a span between two terminals. Is it really so?

So our movement forward Is also a backward retreat, So true..... It is a backward retreat to the place from where we have come.... and our life is a bitter sweet paradox! I like the use of oxymoron here!
