The Bullied Husband Poem by Francis Duggan

The Bullied Husband

Rating: 4.5

To say the least his needs are small
He is at his wife's beck and call
She does not allow him to go to the pub
Or to socialize at the football club.

Their grandchildren in Primary school
And though he is nobody's fool
His domineering wife he fear
A thing that is obviously clear.

In his early sixties looking gray
He still works hard for his take home pay
The most of which she takes and leaves him with little at all
Just like I say his needs are small.

Of most marriages 'tis the male who is in control
But this one is a reverse role
The bullied husband stories are rare
So this one I thought with you I'd share.

A gentle and honest hard working bloke
A quarrel he could not provoke
Forty years married a lengthy span
But for his rough wife too nice a man.
