The Brutal Truth Poem by The Poet Darkling

The Brutal Truth

You call it the brutal truth
All these hatreds that you spew
You try to force on others
The faults that you find in you

You hold the mirror to others
Just so you don't have to see
That what the mirror's reflecting
Is not brutal honesty

They're really prejudices
Your heart formed long ago
You hide behind the mirror
While others faults you show

The only thing that's truthful
In what you call honesty
Is the hateful words you use
And your raw brutality

It's a trick of deflection
Not reflection that you play
But your brutal honest truth
Will catch up to you some day

So be careful where you point
Your high powered perception
And don't mistake honest truth
For brutal misconception
