The Boxing Day Test Poem by Francis Duggan

The Boxing Day Test

At the M C G in Melbourne on Boxing day
In the 07 test cricket series Australia and India play
This is a tradition the Melbourne Boxing day test
Where only the best in the World play the best
I am not into cricket nor I never have been
But I wish the Aussies well in their caps of baggy green
But if India win in my beer i won't weep
Or even about it lose one minute's sleep
I look on International sport as a patriotic thing
Though the praises of elite sports people so many do sing
Far too much of flag waving in International sports for me
In such the narrowness of Nationalism I only do see
To me 'tis just a test cricket match on a warm Boxing day
And if India does win good luck to them I will say.
