The Book - Page 8 Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

The Book - Page 8

I am challenged to pick any book and go to page 8 and write a verse about the first 10 words...

An amazing challenge I say,
As I am always surrounded by books...
Crochet patterns,
Photography,
Poetry, a few of my own published ones,
How to paint watercolor landscapes,
How to pain in oils,
Painting flowers,
Crossword puzzles, Sudoku... and
This evening in the clutter of 'How To'
There is this small book titled,
'What Does The Bible Really Teach? '
I reach for it and turn, as directed,
to page 8...the subtitle takes my first six words-
'What Is The Truth About God? '...the next 4
words to complete my 10, ask the question,
('Does God really care...' (About you? ends the question
but runs over the ten words that qualify for the challenge.)
Questions often pondered by people, not myself, I
never sat upon that shelf where I questioned the Creator's love
or caring for me and the world.
Who is God? was answered at my mother's knee when
I was a child with scripture and verse.
She always reminded the five of us what Jesus Christ said,
Keep on asking and it will be given you
Keep on seeking and you will find, keep on knocking, and
it will be opened to you!
