The Book Poem by David Wood

The Book

Rating: 5.0

To open a book is to escape and take a
Journey across open oceans to faraway
Places, of tall four masted sailing ships
Pounding through heavy unrelenting waves.
Or a journey across a desert on a camel in
The heat of the day to an archaeological site
Where bodies toil under a hot sun clearing
A yet to be discovered Pharaoh's tomb.
To open a book to read exploits of hero's and
Villains, or the simple verse of dancing poetry
Or the steady rhythm of a Shakespearean sonnet
That echoes through your mind and touches the
Heart of a gentle soul transcending both time and
Space.
