The Blues Highway Poem by Wayne Falconer

The Blues Highway

I write from the blues highway
riding along heaven bound
often lost other times found
I write from the blues highway.

These days find self in control
role is not to lose my soul
catch myself looking through other eyes
I don't need no conceited disguise.

I often meditate upon the blues
did you read the rockers news
sometimes imagine the life of others
past friends artist and lovers.

I'm thinking hard to be isolated
perhaps I'm just seventies dated
with my wife and kids in tow
hey I just go with the heady flow.

Look out upon glorious sunrise
sun comes up, goes down never dies
see blue pools within her eyes
my lovely lady wears no disguise.

Think I wear the blues upon my heart
I'm caught between mundane and art
smoke rising from my twelve bar guitar
did I dream myself the aging star.

Films, music, poems and art I mine
inner self I find harder to define
its balancing act between creative pact
trying to make sense of the fact.

They say reality I yell its art
don't let nobody pull your senses apart
but like the sounds I was born to play
with this final verse to sway.

I write from the blues highway
struggle in the human way
what's more or left to say
I write from the blues highway.
