The Blue Rose Defined Poem by Amanda Deupree

The Blue Rose Defined

Looking to the sky for answers never found
Holding a dream to fly while rooted to the ground
My heart lies in the garden of tomorrow
My soul stuck in today's sorrow

The name once given of a rose so true
How can this red rose be so blue
See the smile fade once more
For once I know there is no cure

You see the beauty and ignore the thorns
I feel the pain and ignore the scorns
Red for the love in my heart
Rose for the beauty in my art

Look upon my face once more my love
All the beauty granted from above
See the rose you named me for
Or do you finally see more

There is more to this rose than meets the eye
A heart that floats with dreams that die
See through your rose my dear
Or hope is lost for me I fear
