The Blind Man Poem by Alyssa Marquardt

The Blind Man

Rating: 5.0

We despise before we open our eyes.
And believe the lies that society tells.
Only the blind man can see through the lies
Only the deaf man can hear the cries.

Who should tell us how things are bound to be?
Who should have the power to tell the world what to hear or see?
We despise before we open our eyes.

This society we call a democracy
Has well hidden autocracy
Only the blind man can see through the lies

We stand respectful to our unfaithful controller
The fears and differences we see as our rulers.
We despise before we open our eyes.

We all condemn the things we don't agree with.
Religion, politics, people in general.
Only the blind man can see through the lies

Maybe someday the deaf man will tell us of the cries,
The blind man will let the truth be free.
But for now, we’ll despise before we open our eyes
And only the blind man will see through the lies
