The Birth Of Neir Poem by Daniel McDonagh

The Birth Of Neir

Long ago, when the stars in the sky brightly shone,
To the tribe of MacDonnachda, a daughter was born
Who inherited her mother’s eyes of emerald green
And whose cries shivered the skin of the wailing banshee.
But Neir’s angelic screams were quietly diminished
As the joy of her mothers tears fell onto her soft, sweet face,
Never again would she cry or scream
As her mother’s tears washed away the nightmares of her infant dreams.
