The Beggar Poem by Barry Middleton

The Beggar

Rating: 5.0

surely he sought success
hard to believe he didn't

he gave up young or old
he forgot his own story

maybe all possibility
is cruelly set in stars

so for lack of talents
failure was his curse

do we attain glory
or is there one station

where loveless roses wilt
regardless of effort

since fate put me here
I hand him my change

it will not change him
it will not change grief

coins and roses vanish
the game to stay alive

makes beggars of us all
hungry alone and wanting

Beautifully penned couplets and meaningful too with stress on fate being the driving force behind deciding one's destiny. Thanks for sharing.10 points.
