The Awarding Of One's Self Importance Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

The Awarding Of One's Self Importance

The awarding of one's self importance,
I don't understand.
Or the basis of one's achievement.
As if a seeking of attention,
Is all that one demands.

There is something about a hollowness,
That desires to be fulfilled.
Like a thing wanted by someone who wishes,
To be seen on a pedestal.
And not regularly on a toilet.
