The Artist And The Eye Poem by Adam Holmes

The Artist And The Eye

The artist paints the picture
The picture paints the eye
The eye looks to the sun
The sun looks to the world

The world surrounds the city
The city surrounds the beggar
The beggar orders the bottle
The bottle orders the buzz

The buzz finds the truth
The truth finds the lie
The lie hides from the angel
The angel hides from the temptation

The temptation searches for the fool
The fool searches for the gold
The gold turns to money
The money turns to dust

The dust fills the air
The air fills the balloon
The balloon floats to the cloud
The cloud floats to the east

The east stares to the west
The west stares to the north
The north misses the south
The south misses the snow

The snow mesmerizes the girl
The girl mesmerizes the boy
The boy becomes a man
The man becomes a father

The father abandons the child
The child abandons the dream
The dream speaks to the muse
The muse speaks to the artist

The artist paints the picture
The picture paints the eye
