The Appearance Of Stability Is Misleading Poem by Maria Williams

The Appearance Of Stability Is Misleading

Wake up to the silent world
Almost forgotten
Nearly
Not quite

There is a place
Outside the walls of
My darkness
The safe
Haven
Hiding
Fears
Not a sound on the earth
Steady breathing
Daze of a fantasy world

Slowly wearing off
Soft Voices
Misleading
Angry
Angry voices
Shattering
Splitting the silence
A thousand sirens
Ringing
In my ear

Sleep,
Come on me
Lead me
Away
To a fantasy

Warmth
Overcome me

The Silence
Safety
Steal me
Away

Those voices
Drifting,
Fighting
From another room

They do not
Exist

If only
Only
Innocence
Would shield my eyes
