I said, “I’m thinking about exams
And other important stuff-
Choosing a Career and a life
My head is already crowded enough
So I’ve really no time to think about
Religion as a whole; ”
He said, “What is more important
In the whole world, than your soul? ”

I said, “I’ll go to church and learn from there
How to accumulate spiritual wealth
Once I’ve made my money, then
I’ll go and find out for myself
If what they preach is really true,
And make this my only goal; ”
He said, “What is more precious
In the universe, than your soul? ”

I said, “I’ll work a few years first,
Finish school and all my learning
And then I’ll get a job and work
And put away some money…
Then when I’m settled down, I’ll think
Over what you’ve just told.”
He said, “What is more worth saving
In this lifetime, than your soul? ”
