The African Way Of Life Poem by DOMINIC PREMPEH

The African Way Of Life

My life
Not anything different from that of the ordinary African
Filled with sweat, pains, fears and hopes
Sweat from hard work
Pains from paucity
Fears of failure; and
Hopes of a better tomorrow.

The African way of life
Scorching sun and piercing rays
Mal-nourished evenings and horrible nightmares,
Continuous yawns and 'uncelebrated' feats
Low spirits and failed dreams
Disappointing jobs and stressful lives
Living this life takes courage and risk.
