That Song Poem by Julianna Brown

That Song

Playing the track of that song you once loved
All the words, even though in memory, only familiar to the past
That one silly dance that sent my heart a flutter
your feet no longer care for
and the temptation to dance is gone
Trying so hard to enjoy the music
to revive what you once felt
even lying to yourself pretending like nothing has changed
But it’s gone
That once sweet song
that used to be your favorite song
The enjoyment, the love, the feelings you once had…
Gone…
And you’re left with only memories of what once was
And the hurt and pain of your mind moving on
while your heart is left behind
It’s time for a new track

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem after I felt the relationship between my boyfriend and I drifting away... No matter how hard I tried to make it work; my mind had already moved on.
