That's What Tree Said Poem by Daniel Y.

That's What Tree Said

One day I spoke to a large oak tree
and to my surprise, it spoke back to me! !
It told me a story- a long time ago
when its tall mother tree let it fall in the snow

And when the snow melted, ‘twas carried away.
To a land that was barren and empty and grey.
Here the twig struggled and strove for the right
to climb past the rock and to reach for the light! !

It spoke of the wind and the rain and the sun.
And O, how it wished so much it could run! !
But it sat through all of the wind and the rain
and listened in silence for things as they came.

“...and all of you people, ” the tree said to me,
“are rather impatient, from what I can see.
Yes, I admit that I broke your concrete
which may have inclined you to walk in the street

You’re all very hasty at this side of walk.
But if you’d just stop, you’d hear the trees talk.”

I love the idea of sitting in silence listening to the tree.. Really enjoyed the flow of this poem...
