That Pearl Of Life
Oh, I have searched for it -
The meaning for my every breath.
That far yonder star I will meet
And the Truth there it has set.
A search much like a sailor's
For a mystical precious pearl,
Youthful dreams that open doors,
The unspoken wish of a girl.
To live through the years with reason,
To quest and to yearn for the best,
Through the storms these made me go on,
Till I found it, my heart did not rest.
Time was kind despite its brevity
Gave the length of sixty-seven years,
Now I live in the peace of discovery
Know the why of my joys and my tears.
