'That Day' Poem by Desirae Roa

'That Day'

Rating: 4.8

“That day”
I never knew cancer would take you,
I ask “why? Why do bad things happen to good people? ”
That day I realized the good in bad, cancer set you free.
I sat there next to you in your hospital bed as I watched you fight as hard as you’ve ever fought, struggle to breathe so helplessly.
That day angels called for you to join them, as they lifted you away.
I knew from that day forward things would never be the same.
I lost one of my best friends that day.
I’ve always carried you in my heart no matter how far away we are
I know you’re here now, I know you watch over me.
My mind is slowly forgetting the sound of your voice and pictures remind me of how beautiful inside and out you really were.
-Your “baby”
Love you mama Vangie

Very touchy! May her soul rest in peace! 'My mind is slowly forgetting the sound of your voice and pictures remind me of how beautiful inside and out you really were.' Deep personal feelings like this can be shared only through poems. Well done!
