Thanks To Lady Luck Poem by Francis Duggan

Thanks To Lady Luck

A little of life one might say I have seen
And though many may look on me as a has been
I pay little heed to what some of me say
I only feel happy that healthwise I'm okay.

That poor old bloke in the wheelchair his right leg amputated above the knee
Without lady luck that well might have been me
I thank lady luck to me she has been kind
A better friend than her I could not hope to find.

With my lot I am one who should not complain
Never had to suffer any physical pain
Of injuries and illness I have lived quite free
Thanks to lady luck she has been good to me.

Some I went to school with already have died
And sad to say lady luck not on their side
And though in Nature's bosom I too eventually will lay
I hope that will not be for many a day.

And though the old bloke who sits in the wheelchair
Does not seem unhappy or burdened by care
His right leg amputated to above the knee
Without lady luck that might have been me.
