Thank You Mum Poem by Lu Vernezze

Thank You Mum

I know I've give you restless nights
When you didn't get much sleep
I know I've driven you crazy
When I threw good food that you gave me to eat

I know I emptied all my toys
When you'd just tidied up
And you dressed me in nice new clothes
So then I rolled around in muck

You changed my dirty nappies
When they made daddy gip
You took me with you everywhere
Even on the supermarket trip

You helped me learn and watched me grow
You wiped away my tears
You picked me up when I fell down
You'd comfort me of my fears

You taught me respect and manors
Thank you, sorry and please
Whenever I am in your arms
I always feel at ease

You taught me to be strong
And to stand up for myself
All you've ever wanted for me is happiness
And good health

I cannot thank you enough
Or ever give back as much as you've given me
All I can do now is look after you
When you get elderly

I'll only ever be a phone call away
Whenever you need me
I'll wash your dirty clothes
And i'll cook your tea

I'll take you to the supermarket to do your Friday shop
I'll even dust and hoover
If you think I'll be much cop

I'll give back your time, I promise
For all the time and effort you've put into me
It might not seem like I appreciate it much
But I do
Sincerely

I love you

Thank you doesn't seem to cover much
But I'll look after you now for a change
Put your feet up
You deserve it
Well, at least once they bring down the retirement age
