Thank You Marianne And Mr. Jeffers Poem by Bill Grace

Thank You Marianne And Mr. Jeffers

It is very nice
to receive a gift
from those who supposedly
are dead.
So,
for Marianne Moore
and especially Robinson Jeffers
a public thank you
for letting your views be known
that poetry does not always
have to be composed in meter.
"Rolling stresses"
(as Jeffers put it)
are sometimes adequate
to get
the poem out.
