Thank You For The Memory Poem by Darkness Falls

Thank You For The Memory

Rating: 3.0

My body tingles as I lay there still feeling your body wrapped around mine
I close my eyes and notice that there is nothing I can do but dream
For you have left me here with nothing but a memory
A memory of what we had what we were
A memory of nothing more at this time nothing to have to look forward to
My heart aches as I open my eyes and turn to see nothing but an empty bed
The scent of you makes me wonder what could have been
It makes me wonder what went so wrong
We had something that could never be replaced and not it has vanished right before my eyes
You think that the memory will be nothing more than a picture
They say “A memory will last a life time”
I say “A memory will only last a life time as long as you can keep it alive inside of your heart”
There is one thing that should be said
Thank You for the memory that will last me a lifetime of joy

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Ravi A 29 January 2009

Even though the poem extends to prosification, the idea contained herein is rather very reflective. The last line is really echoing. This is the key line according to me. Prosification and versification are different. Even though the world holds the view that any blank verse can be considered as a poem, it is not true. A poem should make an impact with a few lines. A poem has a musical scale too. If you can consider these points, it is well and good. I have a few poems put at the site under Ravi Panamanna. You are invited to go through them.
