Tethered Poem by Aine Carroll

Tethered

Who do we listen to when we are set upon this road?
We were given several implements to help us with our load.
The loudest of these are our hearts and brains.

The heart wants what the heart wants and seeks it out in wonder.
The brain in sense masters its environment and knows what it should ponder.

The ear confused knows not who to listen to and questions all who know it.
By using its mouth it shouts about with hope that you console it.

The answer I will give you, ear, that melds these two together.
It's the soul that you were born with that has them so well tethered.

So seek your fortune where you may but never forget to ponder
on what you have been given Dear to help you as you wander.

Ok, the truth about heart and mind are very compelling indeed! The last two lines are soothing counsels.. One can't help to ponder these lines... good!
