Telling Time - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Telling Time - Lincoln Park Zoo

Rating: 4.5

This gorilla girl, humans say
To me at the Lincoln Park Zoo,
Patty, a Happy Birthday.
In human years, I guess I'm two.
As humans watch me, I watch them
Escape a bit from human rage
That grips their lives a.m./p.m.
The Zoo does joy for any age.
The human thing to be so mean
To each and all around the Earth,
I've heard about, but have not seen
Here at the Zoo - where time has worth.

I wonder how the world will be
When humans tell me I've turned three.
