Tell Her Poem by Maureen Alikor

Tell Her

I saw the lies;
in his very eyes.

I saw the truth;
she was blinded to.

I heard the words;
she was deaf to.

I walked the mile;
she was scared to thread.

Tell her,
I said the words,
she was so scared to spill.

Tell her,
he is a lone star;
and takes none to heart.

Please tell her,
the words he spewed to her;
where the same he spewed to Tina,
to Vivian
and to me.

Tell her,
I have been there.

Tell her,
I took the bruises for her;
though not physical.

And please forget not to bid her,
to thread carefully.

I saw it all,
and yet she blindly walked in;
all merry and dangling,
as she stepped gaitly,
unaware of the dark cloud that looms above.

Soon it will burst,
and heavy rain drops will drop.

Tell her to care.
Tell her to love but not blindly so.
