Tears Of Joy And Laughter Poem by Jimmy L. Lyons

Tears Of Joy And Laughter

I got to get something off my chest, I want to put this thing to rest;
to put an end to this madness, and an end to this sadness.
I am hungry for salvation, still fighting temptation
with tears of joy and laughter.

When the beat goes on, the music is still strong;
I've been in the storm for too long.
I turn my pain into song; I paint a picture of my life;
I want to do this right.
I hear laughter in the rain; sometimes it helps me ease my pain
with tears of joy and laughter.

I don't want this emptiness, I want to have holiness;
I want to see clear blue skies; it brings tears to my eyes,
tears of joy and laughter.

I don't want to kill myself; I want to heal myself,
and put all this mess to rest.
I want to let go and let God, and be blessed
with tears of joy and laughter.
