Tears Of A Refugee Poem by Abekah Emmanuel

Tears Of A Refugee

Life with stress as daily meal

Hope resting in providence divine

A future of uncertainty, my fear

tears like river flow, joy undefined

I don't know Abekah but your tears here feel more imagined that real. Perhaps this is because I know that you are not a refuge and not in fear for your life. I would like to see more desperation in your images which border on the pastoral. Maybe more lines line like... Life with stress as daily meal Uncertain hope, dreams of providence forsaken, Hunger all that I chew on, water unsafe, Future choked like river of broken families. I suggest trusting first drafts less and working more on imagery!
