Tears For Childhood Poem by Steffi Webster

Tears For Childhood

Rating: 5.0

Damnation a familiar sensation.

Compassion and joy and constant friend,
Sunshine, happiness couldn't end.
Sparkling excitement, innocence clear,
Now all gone. Replaced by fear.

Ages dictates darkness calling.

False freedom's manacles placed
By caring demons clothed
As simple pretenders luring you in
To an open prison for agile years.
Curse of capability cast
Upon the brow of child now grown,
Unlifting, unyielding, till death it take.
Abstract innocenct pre-adolescence
Slashed by enslaving maturity swords.
Knowledge of generosity, kindness,
Tainted by dull logic snares.
Mercy lost in ruthless fight,
Futile strive for life's lost cause.
Solitary monotanous lives drag on...

...Mean nothing.

Childhood liberty tamed, matured,
Happy bliss experience cured.
