Teacher Poem by maas weerabangsa

Teacher

THE TEACHER

With dedication you guided us all day
You had patience to cope with us in many a way
A sage of sorts a knowledgeable soul
Inspired us to reach our goal

Prepared us to learn what was wrong and right
An ability you exhibited with all your might
The crown of knowledge adorning your head
You inspired us to study even in bed

You were neat and very charming to us
Taught us to tackle problems without a fuss
Molded our future molded it well
An attribute you had I could proudly tell

Your devotion gained a lot of respect
Even though rewards you did not expect
You taught us the value of being positive
Never to fail never to be negative

Without fear or favor you taught us right
Like a beacon of light that burned so bright
You safeguarded us like a mother hen
Our hero not with a cane but a pen

You taught us to admire beauty of the whole wide world
The goodness of life that is worth a ton in gold
Teaching us of life paved with milk and honey
Speaking of nature worth more than a bagful of money

In your class you taught us how to add and subtract
Never did you let anyone shirk or distract
Language, history, science and Art
With these you taught us to be smart

With games and sports you were very wise
With every turn you made it look fun and nice
In class you made us care for one another
Bundled into one you were our father and mother
