'Teach Yourself How To Love' Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

'Teach Yourself How To Love'

"teach yourself how to love"
screamed the torn pages
that were desperately carved
by these little dreams
that grew wings
thanks to the misconceptions
of endless possibilities
dressed in their connections
of finding and losing

grab the guts to get away
finally the curtains pull open
honesty fell flat on its face
the metronome jabs you
take a deep breath
let me go, no, don't
read between the squiggly lines
as I struggle to tug, to feel…
feels like I'm breaking apart
